Went for IA interview yesterday. Woke up super duper early because i'm supposed to meet the rest going for the interphew at jurong east interchange at 8 to catch the bus to jurong island checkpoint.
The bus fare which is supposed to be $1.50 turns out to be $2.50. During the bus ride we discussed what's the possible interview questions tt might come out, and they said seniors were asked what's NPSH. I was totally stunned because little did i expect they would test us on technical knowledge.
We joined the queue to exchange for a JI pass after alighting at the checkpoint. The queue was so long and worst it didn't seem to move at all. In the end, a lady came down the queue and help us process our application, so we sort of jumped a portion of the queue and obtained the pass at 9. But it didn't help much because the internal shuttle bus to SRC would only reach by 10. So we waited at the stand, breathing in the exhaust fumes of all kinds of heavy vehicles from fire engine to cranes.
After long torturous wait, we finally board the shuttle bus and again, upon reaching the SRC guard house, we had to alight and exchange the JI pass for a SRC visitor pass, board the bus again which bring us tour around gargantuan sized storage plants until we reached the admin building.
We were quickly ushered into a room as soon as we 'touched down'. We were all initially bored by the journey to our final destination, but anxiety crept in when the interview started. Through a senior who came into the waiting room to 'visit' us, we got to know more abt working in SRC. He mentioned that during shutdown of distillation column, there will be like 1500 bangla against 1 of us -which is quite an intimidating proportion. The size of a screw of can be as huge as a wheel O.O Basically you'll be the worker suit (hahaa, i can't imagine myself in it), and constantly under the sun. After the first interviewee came back, he began to share the interview questions being asked. Indeed, the NPSH question did came out and along with some other technical questions. There's also another interesting question asked whether he know how to cycle, because the only convenient way of travelling from one plant to another is by bicycle. But the interviewer didn't ask me that, prob because of the lack of time.
I think i only fare average for the interview =(, not impressive, not outstanding.. But i really hope to work as an intern there after seeing and hearing so much, and experience it myself.
After everyone were done with the interview, we were hurried off to catch the 12.15 shuttle bus out. Again, we had to alight at the guard house to exchange back our JI pass. But, the annoying bus driver who was supposed to fetch us back to lakeside mrt stn drove us without us!! So we were sort of left stranded practically nowhere. Some 1 malimau road, inside jurong island this barren, remote land, hardly any soul(except for the kind security guard uncle) and normal vehicles like cars (unless u consider countless oil tanker zooming past as normal). The security guard uncle informed us that the bus that left was the last bus and we had to call 2 cab in to fetch us out, exchanged back our IC at the checkpoint again and decided that we should at least have our lunch together before splitting ways.
What a day~ Think we spent 4 hours travelling and waiting.
