I'm so upset doing chemistry paper. I took 30mins just to complete 12 questions, leaving out exactly 10 questions! Hope I can at least get 20 marks out of 40. I'm really puzzled; I don't seem to encounter this problem when attempting other schools’ mcq paper. I can only make one conclusion, which is the paper is too demanding. It involves too much calculation and thinking, in which you'll need more than an hr to complete. To make it worst, almost every question requires you to do the same thing. I also find the phrasing of the questions rather weird. I had a hard time trying to understand what the question wants. I'm not convinced that the teachers who have tried can have extra time to check if they even managed to complete it. Now, my second attempt to do this mcq paper, I only managed to finish it on the dot.
This further angered me when I think of PW. Seriously speaking, I can't find fault with my group members. They might not be the best group members to have, but each and every one of us did our part. When the review of this PW came out, one of the major problems for the majority is that when the project reached a certain stage, our idea cannot be further developed. So it means that the problem ultimately lies with our preliminary idea. But I just couldn't understand why the teacher in charge did not mention anything about that nor any lack of development of idea. Come to think of it, the comments made by my teacher in charge are rather vague and superficial. She should be frank to us about that. I would rather spend more time choosing the right area than to meet with so many hiccups along the way.
I'm not impressed with the school's approach either. It makes me feel as if we are guinea pigs for this trial and error system. Just look at the promo exam last year. The basic requirement to be promoted can be achieved too easily. The number of retainees is so few as compared to other JCs. I'm not saying that we should retain as many people, but you to slap the students with the truth. Do you think that by just obtaining an A and AO level pass for promo exam, it will make you a mark in A level? What’s the use of promoting us when our basic foundation is not as strong and solid? I really cannot decipher the purpose of promoting us and keep nagging at us that we are not performing up to standard and that the papers are not even of A level standard. That is not the way to motivate us definitely. It's so contradicting. It makes me wonder if our school is really a dumping ground. I doubt anyone value-added themselves for these 2 years in school. For whatever it is, I'm not impressed, and I regretted coming here to be the pioneer batch.
